B9 S4 -- launch control and multi-port injection?
Does anybody happen to know if the US-spec B9 S4 is going to have launch control and multi-port injection?
Not sure if launch control will make it over with the switch away from DSG.
As to MPI, some of the newer VWAG cars are getting this in Europe but VWAG takes it off the US-spec cars. Would be nice to have some assurance against carbon buildup.

The primary role of the port injectors that are available in Euro-version VW/Audi engines is to help it meet Euro emissions requirements. As a coincidence, it helps minimize carbon build-up behind the intake valves. I say, minimize, because it does help but definitely not prevent carbon from building up. You still have oil riding along with the blow-by gases being re-introduced to the intake system.
In North America, our emissions requirements are not as stringent compared to EU so the car manufacturers like VW/Audi consider this an extra production expense that they can translate back into cost savings (increased manufacturing profit). In my opinion, VW/Audi should just include MPI in all their gas engines sold in Europe or North America. What they save in parts may be translated to savings in production processes by having common engine variants for both markets.
So, I doubt that VW/Audi will introduce MPI to North American gas engines just for the sake of minimizing carbon build-up behind the intake valves. It would be nice it they did add MPI and have cleaner engine emissions at the same time. But, I am not expecting it. Call me a pessimist but I know what goes through the minds of their stock holders. They only care about profits. The customers come second.

I understand the role of MPI in emissions, but they also play a big role in avoiding carbon buildup and providing fuel headroom. Some of the EA888 stage 3 kits involve adding the port injector system back in.
Unfortunately, removing that from US cars is the kind of cheap @#% move I've come to expect from VWAG and part of what's driving me away form the brand.

Audi cares little about mitigating carbon build-up because an intake cleaning is considered a maintenance item and is not covered by the warranty.

The only engine in the US with direct and port injection is the V10 in the R8.
You don't have to worry about carbon buildup anymore on the new TFSI motors.
And yes, there is a launch control program in the 8-speed Tiptronic in the B9 S4/S5. It is similar to what is in the RS 7. Same process, traction control off, transmission in sport, left foot brake, mash the throttle, the RPM will go to about 2500, then release the brake.
And it's fast. Very fast. 4.4 seconds 0-60.
You don't have to worry about carbon buildup anymore on the new TFSI motors.

I scaneed the Self Study Program for the Audi 5.2L V10 engine published by Audi USA after I read your post. In that SSP, there is no indication that it has port injectors. Maybe this is a recent improvement?

This is with the second generation R8 (2016+, 2017 in the US).
