"Dual power mirrors with defog feature" was a standard safety/security option on the 2004 Audi A8 L quattro AT6.
If, for some reason, your car does not have that feature and your current switch functions properly, a power folding retrofit would involve re-coding your front door electronics and adding the value 512 to your current coding. Make sure you remember/record the previous coding value as you could make a mistake in coding.
If retrofitting a mirror with puddle lamps, add 8 more; auto-dimming adds 1024 more. Only add these values if your module isn't coded with these values yet and your new mirrors have these features. You have to do the same coding process on each side you retrofit a mirror on.

The additional "wiring" you need is integrated into the mirror assembly's wiring. Each front door electronics module should have a 16 pin connector that will accept any configuration of the early D3 mirrors. The mirror will then have at least 13 pins out of 16 populated at its connector; 14 if it has a puddle lamp.
So no additional wire harness for the mirror should be needed. You do need the appropriate switch and software changes, however. I am not sure if the switch itself needs a new harness.
