Mystery Coolant Loss

Mystery Coolant Loss
Hey guys, seems like bad luck is taking place as I'm trying to sell my 05 A8L 4.2 as it hits almost 200,000 miles(knock on wood). Today, I noticed that a significant loss of engine Coolant when I opened the hood of the car, but no Coolant on the ground (there is no skid plate underneath the car). I looked around the engine bay but no obvious pink crust areas or sweet smells. Heat works just fine. Oilcooler was replaced last September along with water pump and thermostat with OE parts. I checked the oil and it looks just fine. No milkshake color. Where could the Coolant be going? Any suggestions/ideas? Thanks

With it being low about a quart or two, it is tough to guess. I would pressurize the cooling system for a few hours and see what happens. Hopefully it won't be leaking out the tail pipe. If it were, you should see some white smoke.

Earlier cars had a tendency to spring pin hole radiator leaks. Most will have been replaced with an updated part by now, but maybe not yours? Worth some scrutiny either way.
