Mpg?
joined your forum because i recently purchased '09 Audi A4 premium package from auction approx. 2 months now. great ride, i love it but here's the issue i'm getting about 10 miles per gallon (btw only has 60,000 mile on this car). display on dash drops at 5 gallon increments randomly. at first i thought this just display error but the fuel gauge needle also drops rapidly. took it to local mechanic he told me since there no codes showing up i would i have to take it to audi dealership (something i definitely don't want to do). a friend of mine referred me to his mechanic (great guy btw). he informed the low mileage was due to carbon build up. he proceededd to scrape the carbon from the exhaust valves but it didn't fix the problem. he wants me to leave car for week so find and fix problem. what i'm asking, has anyone else had to deal with a similar problem(s)? does anyone know of a good audi mechanic in/near Brooklyn NY (im in brooklyn my friends mech. is in jersey)? i'd like to thank everyone in advance.

Mine does the same thing, sometimes I notice a drop of 5 miles but I think its just something with the sensors, it doesn't necessarily mean you're losing gas. as for the fuel needle dropping, you should check your fuel pump

i don't believe that,s the case in my situation because i've filled the tank and monitored the mileage (which worked out to about 10 mpg). i do appreciate your reply. thx

oh okay, I will wouldn't personally worry about it, I rarely look at my fuel range display i just fill up when the needle is in the red. but as for your needle dropping rapidly maybe it could be a leak with the evaporative emission system P0442 or P0456 not sure though just my 2 cents.
