MMI not turning on
At my indy shop to turn on the hidden menu for the MMI since I updated to the newer parking sensor module.
did this procedure:
With VCDS:
Connect with module 07 – Control Head.
Choose procedure 10 – Adaptation.
Choose Channel 8.
Read stored value. By default it should be 0.
Change value to 1 and save it.
Read stored value. Now it should be 1.
reset the MMI by pressing and holding TEL + BIG **** + TOP RIGHT BUTTON and the MMI turn off, and won't turn back on.
5A fuse for MMI is good.
VCDS won't communicate with module either.

After turning on the hidden menu through VCDS, it did say something about the software...I would be really be surprised if that kept the system from turning on. The CD changer, navigation unit still light up and work.

Try pressing each of the buttons on the mmi a few times with the ignition off. Make sure each one clicks when pressed and click when released. If a button is stuck down that can hang the MMI system. Then turn on the ignition. Also try hitting the dash button to raise the screen.

The screen is stuck up, not down.

When all else fails for anything haunted in D3 electric/electronic, go to final what the hell standby: Full battery disconnect for at least 30 minutes.

I had some people mention touching the negative and positive terminals together after the residual charge had gone from the car... I laughed and said year sure let me damage all the electronics in my car.

Also, do you know you have power to the MMI system in general? Is screen lighted in any discernible way (like flicker on attempted power up)? MMI buttons lighted?, etc. Beyond just the typical minifuse stuff in the various panels, possible you lost the main fusible link back in trunk? Typically happens when someone is doing work back there and shorts something, but asking just in case. Body shop blew mine out during some rear bumper R&R work, resulting in dead MMI until they sent it to dealer to find issue.

No flickering of the screen, CD changed does make noise and Navigation unit still spits put the navigation CD. I am looking around the house for something I can use to remove thexcess cell changer to check the modules under the glove box. Are there separate fuses on those? Kind of like an after armer radio has fuses on the back of it.

Buttons are not lit up, I checked the 5a fuse in the trunk. (I did just install anew updated parking sensor module but everything worked fine after that).
