There is a defect in some, causing the covers to pit and degrade from the INside surface, and some dealers are replacing the covers entirely under warranty. (Others claim they cannot.) Yes my headlight covers are extremely pitted from the inside. Less than 50 hours of headlights on usage. I will probably need to raise hell to get them replaced. I will go in March to recode the aux electric heater element and PCV valve recall done.
I now have a whopping 10,300 miles on my almost 4 year old 2014 Q5.
Good point as there were both halogen and Xenon headlights in US 2014 models.
The part number and removal description you gave are for halogen. The part number I gave are for xenon and the removal procedure is different than for the halogen.
