I have been searching on the internet for a "new" camera for my S8

The original part number: 4L0-980-551-B
The upgraded version is: 4L0-980-551-D
There is a third version: 4L0-980-551
From everything I have read the 4L0-980-551-D replaces the other two models. I just don't know what the difference is between the two that it replaces.
I can find a few of the 4L0-980-551 for sale on the internet at a reasonable price. The D model is around $400+

Anytime there is a suffix change on a part from Audi it usually means that the parts has been upgraded, a different supplier is used, or both. It is in you best interest to get the D suffixed part. It will likely last longer or be better than original.

I have 2009 a8l did anyone ever put a backup camera in Car didnt come with one would luv to add one

I am not sure that I understand you, but 2009 should have backup camera from factory. It may depend on market or it may be broken. Where are you?

I'm in us bought car new it didn't come with back up camera

Are you certain there is no camera? I believe it is possible to turn the camera off. Check the handle area of the trunk lid.

omg thank you richard, but i feel like a moron. i looked at trunk and their is a camera turned it on done im shocked first of all it wasn't turned on when i bought the car new plus i know i questioned salesman why it didnt have one he said since it had sensors you dont get both. guess im glad i asked a dumb question and thanks for suggesting a common sence answer. im still shaking my head that i didnt look sooner

Via the MMI menu. There is a parking assist menu item that lets you select graphics or video and if I am not mistaken, both.

yes your right richard just took ck mark from off to auto and have cam now. Im still beating myself up over this lol.. thanks again for the help
