Looks like VW has made progress towards a resolution to the 3.0 TDI cheating diesel saga.

So wanting to make sure. The dollar amounts. Are they the cost to apply the fix, which VW is obviously covering, or are they the actual payout (cold hard cash) you will get if you chose to do that option (again, the fix still also covered by VW.)

Hard cash. 50% upfront and the balance paid out after the fix is performed. If a fix is not approved by the deadline established by the court then you get some more hard cash with the added option for VW/Audi to buy back your car. This applies to the newer Gen 2 TDI's.

I like the numbers they're throwing around. So basically our key dates at this point are:
1) Aug 25th 2017 --> VW Submits Modifications
2) Nov 10th 2017 --> Final Submit
3) Dec 20th 2017 --> Final decision (Compliant or Reduced)
Seems the Dec 20th is soft in that they may very well have up to 3 additional months @ $500/mo payment to owners.
Curious that there seems no improvement on timing of our cars being fixed even though they floated a plan mid last year on how to do it and our cars are still lagging in the "fix schedule" by 6 months. Would guess they're getting the higher value cars and/or easier to fix ones out of the way before the heavier lifting on ours. Even so, the schedule is quite disappointing. I'm glad that I'm not wanting to get rid of the car!

These dates are based on the actual fix schedule. Go to audidieselsettlement, click 3.0, scroll to FAQ and then "when will I get the emissions modifications". Scroll way down and you'll see all of these dates. The 10k stuff is nice, but I'm more interested in the dates triggering a buyback (real money) and how long I need to hold onto the car to get there (maybe)

Looks like we can also expect another $1,500 or so from Bosch:
VW agrees fresh compensation deal as Bosch is drawn into diesel scandal
Bosch reaches settlement agreement for diesel vehicles in the U.S. - Bosch Media Service
My TDI is turning out to be the best car purchase I've ever made!!
Now waiting to see what happens with the class action suit against MB and their Bluetec models, which my wife drives.
