2004 Audi S4 Thumping noise when stopping. HELP!!!
I recently purchased a 2004 S4. It has since developed a Thumping noise when I slow down. It doesn't seem to do it at high speed, nor when the brakes are applied hard. Only when coming to a slow stop it rattles or thumps seemingly on the passenger side. I brought it to the local Audi dealer and they suggested that I replace the sway bar links. I replaced them, and have seen no improvement. Any ideas on what to check next? Control arm bushings? Shocks? It doesn't seem like it's every time the wheel rotates which leads me to believe that it isn't brake or wheel related (it does it much more often). Most noticibly when hitting the brakes gradually and especially when braking over bumps. PLEASE HELP!!!!

Sounds like a Transmission
Are you driving a Manual or an Automatic?
If it is a manual and you take it out of gear while stopping, and if it still makes the noise it's not the transmission. If you are driving an automatic, when the vehicle slows down, it could be the transmission down shifting. When was the last time you changed your transmission fluid?
