Default Proper Vacuum Pressure, Numerically
Hello, I have a 2000 Audi A6 with the earlier-style 4.2V8 40-valve engine. My tech and I have been fixing vacuum leaks and it's getting better but i'm curious what the proper amount of vacuum in the little hoses by the intake manifold should be, please? I can plug in a vacuum gauge but that doesn't tell me what the correct standard is.

Normal manifold vacuum on that engine at idle speed is around 18 to 22 inches.

It's not going yet ... a coolant leak has announced itself as a more urgent priority :-)
