Consisering Buying '04 S4
I'm looking at a 2004 S4 8cyl, 89,000 miles for 8 grand. Decent service records, and I always stay up on maintenance. I understand there are timing guides issues, can be pricey, should I let this deter me? Anything else I should know? Thanks, Orion

I have a 2004 S4 Avant. Truly a great car, but the drive chain replacement is pricey and requires an engine dismount. Make sure that (a) the drive chain has been replaced before you purchase the car or (b) you have $8-$10k or so saved up to do the replacement on your dime. Audi prices run up to around $15k.
