I just discover that the rubber on the headlight has melted . Will this cause water into the headlight unit please advise

No it will not cause water to leak in.

It however raises the question is to why it has "melted".

Thanks for your reply i really appreciate. The bonnet cable broken and garage has to pull the upper centre grill out to open the bonnet. They have tried to go from the fender but not successful. The grill was damaged and i think they use hot gun to stick it back together. I think the hot gun must have touched the rubber seal

I complete took off those rubber pieces on mine as they were gooey and all over the lenses anyhow.
