Audi Wireless Data
So it seems like the Q7 comes with a free trial subscription to wireless data (and hence in-car wifi). Can you tell me the carrier, and what are the renewal options and rates?
Also what happens if I do not renew the data? Do I lose features like google maps, etc.?

ATT is the carrier. Options are in the myAudi portal. If you don't renew, yo will lose the google maps option.

The Earth view just disappears and you'll see the standard map instead. The $499 is for 18 months and is needed for the maps. Keep in mind they are not Google Maps. They are Audi's maps with a Google Earth overlay.

Ok, so if I understand correctly, if I want wi-fi in the car and Maps to be up to date, I need to have Prime @ $499/18 months, AND a Connect Plus data plan (at $/month)?
If so, that's nuts! My friend with an MK I, pays $15 per month for unlimited data and updates to maps etc. T-mobile

If you have AT&T there is a new plan coming out that allows you to add "unlimited" data for $20 per month (including Mexico and Canada) coming out on the 2nd. It is the first time I've considered moving off my very old unlimited plan as my 2 lines (wife and I) will be $145/month and I can add an iPad, my car and any other connected device for $20 per month. Their unlimited is up to 22GB per month at the highest speed and then slows down if you go over and the network is congested. Pretty much US industry standard these days though.

I've heard about the updated unlimited plan and was considering it too. I've also been in the very first unlimited plan with ATT (2009 plans) and have not even thought about transferring it until now. If we can add the car that would be great. I'll review further.

I spent 20 min on the phone this morning talking to them about it. I've been on AT&T since the Digital One Rate (around 1999) even though they only show I've been a customer since 2006. I worked there for a few years so I lost my previous account history when I left AT&T. And yes, this is the first thing that has actually made me consider changing my plan since I left AT&T in 2006.
