Default Stone chips on windshield

Is it just me or does anyone else find that the windshield cracks very easily on the TTS. Or perhaps this in an Audi glass thing? I do a lot of highway driving and I just got my second chip in 9 months. They're even the same chip type (both are "star"). Anyone else have this issue?

Sorry to hear that Fun101. I don't find Audi glass any different than others in this regard, just bad luck.

FWIW I've very successfully used Loctite repair on star type chips. They almost disappear.

Oh no ! Poor windshield !

I agree with Huey52 - the Loctite stuff (or similar) hides star chips perfectly.

they have windshield protection similar to xpel. may be worth looking into whenever you decide to replace the wind shield or for ur future cars

Yes, I've heard of that. It might be something to consider when I replace it altogether. My last two cars had fairly pitted windshields to the trained eye (or hand).

Is this similar to/the same as the film they put on headlights? I was thinking that since I'm planning to wrap the car anyways, I might as well add the front headlight film (should be pretty cheap all things considered).

If they can do the windshield as well, I'd spring for it. Though at that point my car would be mostly plasticwrap. :-)

similar but not the same material so u cant just ask them to put it on ur windshield. Ask them if they have it for the windshield- its relativly new

As someone who obsesses over the visual clarity of my windshield I would never put a "wrap" on it, no matter how good it might be. If designed to withstand high speed stone chips it would have to be relatively thick, so ....
