It's interesting that it has fog lights because that's not listed on the features of the US version.

they are not fog light but in fact sensors for the various road assistance tech

I don't know how they managed to make the A4 look better than the A5.

when you see the A5 in person you will appreciate it so much more. Way more sculptural than A4, at the front ( hood and lights ), side ( crease line varies along side ) and rear design including nicer tail lights and integration of 3rd brake light....

Easy. More upright grill and more substantial front end. Aside from the front end, the A5/S5 is a great evolution of the current design.

I think the problem is not the front end but the LED signatures front and rear. The ones on the A4 are sportier. The ones on the A5 are just dull and make the car look unattractive.
