dB Meter app
Did a forum search and didn't see this topic pop up so I wanted to share something cool I found. I was given an A6 loaner recently while my dealer completed a recall on my D4. While driving home in the A6 at 63 mph I was really struck by how much louder the noise level seemed in the cabin. I did an app search for a decibel meter and found "dB Meter" on the Apple Store for $2.99. Downloaded it and found it very easy to use, although I cannot vouch for its accuracy. BUT - what was really interesting is running my A8 at the exact same speed on the exact same road the decibel level was almost half that of the A6.

Our A8s are just really solid cars. Audi did do an excellent job with the D4. It is a very under appreciated vehicle for sure. Other then the traditional electrical German cars issues, it is a great car.

what electrical german car issues? i dont have any and havent seen too many here.

so electrical problems only happen when the battery is about to die? i mean if thats the case i can always just replace battery every 3-4 years to make sure its never at the point of death lol.

A dying battery produces odd symptoms, they clear up with a new battery. Specific issues still need to addressed the old fashioned way, you can't replace a battery and fix everything.

Highly recommend using a battery tender. I'm not at the 7 year point yet, but keep my 911 hooked to battery tender whenever it is not on the road, and first OE battery lasted 7 years.

I'm also a fan of preventive maintenance regarding the battery. I have not checked mine but I am assuming it is most likely the original. I usually replace the battery every 3 - 4 even if it still test ok. I have also not had any battery related issues for a very long time using this strategy. I know some last a long time but living in the snow belt I prefer to just replace the thing.
