Default Towing capacity

We're looking at Q5 to replace our Q7tdi when the buyback is finalized. I need around 4000lbs to tow a small camping trailer. I can't find any data on the MKII given the only engine choice is the 2l turbo, I'm a little concerned.
Anyone have any idea?

Lots of info here:

But I could not find the towing capacity here or anywhere else. I would think the SQ5 with the higher torque engine and air suspension would be the best.

Good deal! Where did you find that. And is that the 2L engine?

Towing a trailer that weighs as much as your car is pushing the limit. IMO you will need an equilizer hitch and make sure that your gross weight is accurate at 4,000. I took my 4200lb trailer to a scale and found it weighed 2200 lbs over the net weight-clothes, food, fishing tackle, water 33%, some grey/black water. Amazing how fast things add up. I knew I was loaded because we were headed to Canada but estimated weight to be much lower.

After towing with the Q7 TDI you will be sorely disappointed to be doing so with a Q5 2.0T. Shorter wheelbase and lighter weight means you get pushed around, smaller brakes means you can't stop, and 1/3 (or more) less torque will make you frown going up hills.

Just bite the bullet and pick up a vehicle with tow capability from the outset.

I just ordered the 2018 Q5 2.0. The dealer charged me $900ish (whatever list was minus our negotiated discount). Nothing was never mentioned about the installation cost. We did discuss the fact that it would be installed at the port. Hmm. I'll be installing a trailer brake controller in the Q5 like we had in the Q7. The Q7 was/is an awesome tow vehicle with Tdi and air suspension. It will be missed. I estimate that I'll tow about once a year with the Q5 and so as long as we're under the published weight, I think we'll be fine. (The only time the Q5 will tow the popup is when I need my pickup to tow our boat at the same time).
I'm really hoping the factory hitch and wiring uses the standard 7 pin plug, again like the Q7.

I had my hitch installed for $950 at the port as well. That is an installed price, no extra fee. In fact if it is installed at the port, it gets a line item on the MSRP sticker price and is like factory installed. If it is installed by the dealer after it arrives, than there is a separate installation cost and it becomes very expensive.
