Glad to be on here and hope I can get some tips. Own a 2011 A8. Lots of miles I put on it as I bought new only 3.5 years ago. Just hit 100k. Here is the issue.
3 months ago squeaking over speed bumps. Figured bushings. However then 3 weeks ago my steering wheel started to shake whenever I brake. As soon as I apply the brakes heavily there is a vibration through the car but mainly in front.
Took to Audi dealership here is what they found
Front Right lower curved control arm bushing blown. Didn't see that in my shop once I got on lift.. however it did have a little more give then left side and the rifht front wheel when in air rattles as we shake it back and forth. The left wheel is nice and tight with no shake, noise or looseness. So I am sure it's def a bushing or control arm but wanted to know if anyone thinks otherwise ??? Like ball joint? What would cause this and also create the loose wheel when u shake it back and forth from grabbing each side of tire?

My family has been in foreign auto repair for 40 years but I've been out of it for 13 years...

Audi said the vibration in steering wheel was from the bad bushing on lower curved control arm being bad and that it woild create pulsation in brakes .... Anyone? I just ordered the arm for 400 dollars to do at our shop since Audi wanted $975 plus alignment for $650.. Can u believe those bastards?
