Diesel Particulate Filter

Diesel Particulate Filter
Got an A3 TDI 170 DPF- which goes through a "cleaning cycle" when driven around town too much so it can burn off the soot collected in the exhaust box, when this cleaning cycle happens the engine runs noticably louder and is a bit up and down on tickover.Once this has finished its fine, and if i do motorway miles this doesnt happen. I only know about this when i had a message on the dash saying particle filter please consult owners manual, in the manual it says run the car at about 2000 rpm at 45 mph (65 kph) for about 15 mins and this will burn off the collected soot....anyone else come across this ???

Re: Diesel Particulate Filter
100% normal, engine advance timing and fuel ratio to get extra heat in exhaust system to burn of soot.Howeverwhen you reaced 90%in your particular filter you must replace it then.
