Default OBDLink "Catalyst temp" as a proxy for EGT?

Is that reasonable? 2013 Q7 TDI and the available options are
"Catalyst temperature (Bank 1 Sensor 1)" and
"Catalyst temperature (Bank 1 Sensor 2)"

A quick Google of the exhaust system layout suggests that I have a single catalytic converter handling both banks of cylinders so it sounds like monitoring either or both during towing would be an option.

I've not seen anyone mention that a VagCom could enable an MMI display of EGT but I'd be happy to hear that also.

This article, http://bankspower.com/techarticles/s...t-is-important, suggests that, depending on engine load, there would be a 200-500F degree difference between exhaust manifold temps and temps downstream from the turbo (and presumably before the catalyst). Did I just answer my own question?

Default Found an OEM EGT sensor for the 3.0 TDI on ECS Tuning

So this means there may be a VagCom code to display the EGT - either MMI or display in the driver's instrument cluster?
