Default Q7 TDI Oil

Can anyone tell me the Spec Numbers or point me to a list of oils approved for use in the 2010 Q7 AdBlue TDI engine?

I would prefer, if possible, to stay away from Mobil 1 ESP Formula M 5W40. There have to be others approved.

TIA for your response.

Dutch, you can get the 507.00 oil at Pepboyz. It's a Mobil product, I think it's around $6.50/L.

There are lots of other 507.00 oils you could purchase at the VW dealer or order on-line.

Thanks. I really don't like Mobil 1 oils. I guess I'll just have to look around. Thanks again.

OK, I wasn't clear on that aspect.

Alternate: http://www.autohausaz.com

AutohausAZ will have the TOTAL/ELF products. They've got free shipping on orders over $50. I typically order three rounds of oil change materials (filters + oil) from them when needed. You save yourself a butt-load of $$$.

I've got alternate 507.00 sources, but the free shipping, if offered, starts at a much higher level.

Thanks again. I guess I should really wait to see what my Owner's Manual says when they deliver the car in late May. In the South, I have never been a fan of 5W30 oils. The heat down here likes 5W40 oils better; and I didn't see any of those in the 507.00 list I found on line.

The oils that will keep your warranty in effect are all 5W30.

By the list, you're right. As much as I don't like Mobil 1 oils, I'll bet the Mobil 1 ESP Formula M 5W40 would also work. It's on the MB Spec for their BlueTec diesels.

Is MBz 229.51 the same as VAG 507.00 ? If you had a warranty claim, would you be able to convince the regional service mgr that they are the same product?
