2000 MK1 door lock MESSED UP!
About a week ago when I tried unlocking my car from the driver side I noticed that when I turned my key there wasn't as much resistance as when I usually go to unlock my car and my key also got stuck in the door and my car was yet to be unlocked. To put it off whenever I get into my car I go to the passenger side to unlock the car and walk around back to the driver side to get in. I'm not that knowledgable when it comes to my car but I'm guessing that its either a fault with my door lock cylinder or the door lock mechanism(leaning more towards the cylinder). Does anyone know what might be wrong and how I can repair without taking it to the dealer??

I imagine you are going to need to remove the door card, and likely the lock cylinder and latch and examine for breakage. The procedure for both is in the manual. Just had both my doors apart to change out the microswitch on the latch mechanism. It's easy enough to do search for the procedure if you are without a manual.
