My 2001 TT coupe has a short antenna on the roof, that is apparently only used for the built in cellphone connection .... which I obviously don't use. The radio antenna is in the rear window glass. The tip of the rubber covering is broken off and it looks a little ratty. I'd like to replace it, but what appears in the parts list (8Z0862057) is $30, and it really doesn't look like what's on there now, and I'm not sure it would even fit. Does anyone know if the antenna rod unscrews from base. If it does I think I could replace it with an inexpensive aftermarket rod. I tried unscrewing it, but it wouldn't budge and I didn't want to break anything.
