Back home again
I'm back......Former member who had a 2001 225 coupe, leased and returned in April 2004. After years of looking I found a red 2002 ALMS in San Diego (ElCajon) on Benz dealers web site and video on YouTube. One owner 55000 miles, clean car fax and spotless interior and near perfect body. Had it shipped to Seattle and will only see the road on dry days. I now have a home for my euro mirrors that I had installed on old TT as well as euro side markers. I plan to have this as a weekend driver adding less than 4K miles a year.
As I remembered this forum is a great resource. The glove box was of course not able to open, but thanks to this forum I got it open and pushed in the right side pin so it is no longer connecting to the hole on the right. I then, added some padding over the hole on the the right so there is some friction to keep the right side of the door up. Now the latch releases the left side and the door opens...seems to be good with only the left pin in play as long as I'm not carrying gold or lead bars. The dealer video is in the link that follows.
