I changed the front upper strut mounts and bearings on the drivers side of our 2000 TT Quattro and after reinstalling the strut, it will not compress. There is a good 8 - 10 inches between top of tire and edge of fender. This is with wheel back down and the weight of the car on it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, must have car on the road by noon tomorrow.

if you lift the car up, does the shock extend? or is it stuck at full extension?

If stuck full extension, use a spring compressor to tighten down the spring and then hit the shock's rod/piston (add another nut to the top and maybe use a hardwood block) with a 10# sledge hammer to break it free. Otherwise replace the strut/shock. I take it the other side behaves differently as you should always replace both sides at the same time.
