Have you noticed clunking noises, a shaking steering wheel or just general poor road feel? The usual suspect in this case are the rubber bushings pressed into these control arms.

Rubber degrades over time, especially when faced with the rough conditions of your vehicles undercarriage.

how are these compared to the original, pre-recall, control arms?

No doubt they are better than the 14 year old worn out ones that are on our car

Seeing that these have poly bushings replacing all the rubber bushings they will be much stiffer and more responsive than a brand new control arm.
