Default Electronic parking brake questions

Hi,

I am preparing to replace rear discs and pads on my 2003 TT quattro. Found the wind-in tool, but now I am reading of some electronic gizmo that has to be disabled before pistons can be wound in. Is this true, and if so how and with what can that be achieved?

Thanks,
AUDItorium

Not true on MK1 TT's purely mechanical. Some Audi's have electric /stepper motor controlled parking brakes on their rear calipers. For those you need the VW/Audi diagnostic tool or the Ross-Tech interface and their software to back off the parking brake to install new pads.

Basically you need this for most troubleshooting and diagnostic procedures with this vehicle.
