Default Door latch microswitch replacement a success! Thank you everyone!

I picked up a couple microswitches from Cain Electoronics in Norfolk, va. Luckily I stopped back by Radio Shack on the way home and found that they had gotten a new shipment in. The ones from Cain were way too big. Jeff's how to pictures are deceptively large looking, this switch is actually quite small (much less than an inch long). Anyone who needs to do this is welcome to contact me and I can walk you through it step by step... or perhaps I'll write up a more in-depth how-to that explains how to get the door panel off and get the latch out (it's kind of a beotch).

Anyhow, it works! The door opens and "BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP" door closes "___silence___" it's wonderful. Thank you everyone that helped out on this one (as usual). So far this week I've saved about $1500 in labor by doing stuff myself.

Default SPDT-Submini Roller Lever Switch ----->

<a href="http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2049719&cp=">Part Number 275-0017</a>
You can find them in the drawers... if they don't have them, ask... if the people don't know... wait (or go elsewhere).

I pulled the roller lever thing completely off mine because it gets caught on the cam and it turns and could potentially jam up the whole gizmo.

Default Oh, well it was *NOT* hard to do... if there's one thing I'm not it's an electrician ---more--->

and I still managed to figure it out. If you need more info than what's on the FAQ's feel free to e-mail me and I can give you a call and give you the rundown. The trick is mostly finding a switch that's small enough... they really are quite tiny (and inch by 1/2in if I recall... but don't quote me on that) and Jeff's pictures don't really give you that feeling. The door panel is a lot easier to take off that I expected. Re-assembling the whole thing was the only hitch (getting the latch mechanism back in is kinda tricky and lining up all those clips on the door panel can be a pain). the $10 for a new switch and 2 hours of time really beat having to take it to the stealership and paying over $400 to get it fixed (yes, that's what they quoted me).

I used a Cherry switch, from mouser.com. I got the one with a metal lever then bent it to shape. It's held in place with JB Weld epoxy.
