Default Plastic undercarriage cover removal

Hi all- hit a major pothole today in my TT, and the black plastic cover underneath the front of the car is split, damaged and dragging. I would love some guidance on two things:
1- how can you remove this? Do I need to jack the car up get underneath and use specific tools or can I just somehow pull it off?
2- I've read that it's preferable but not absolutely necessary to replace this part. Is this the case?

I truly appreciate the help!

Remove the fasteners with a proper tool. The factory used Torx fasteners..

Replace when you can. Not using it will shorten the life of the drivetrain. Especially in climates that treat roads with deicing stuff.
