Pls help diagnose suspension noise.
2001 TT. It has a clunking noise which is getting worse. It sounds like the front driver side, and is very noticeable when taking that tire over a bump. But I can't find it. Took it in for new tires, and mechanic thought it was a broken weld. He said that he can't find anything else wrong.
I didn't think that one bit of a broken weld in a long line of welds would do it. So I stuck a GoPro under the car.
Here's the video. It's about 3 min.
Two questions: 1) do you see anything suspicious? 2) what other parts / views might show something?
Things that I have changed:
4 struts / shocks / axles
Ball joints
Outer tie rod ends
Strut linkage ends
Dogbone mount (shoutout to J. Patterson)

It's only got the one control arm per side, and the strut keeps it straight on top.
The control arm has the rear bushing (replaced), ball joint (replaced) and the front bushing (inspected when removed, and approved by real mechanic). I think that I would be able to muscle some movement if this bushing were that bad.

I have the same issue on my 03'TT. after removing the control arms and trailer arm, I noticed that the bushing on the back of the arm is not as it should. The metal tube that the bolt goes through to connect to the subframe of the car is loose. My suggestion is start there. You can order a good replacement kit with all new bushings and bolts from ECS tuning.
Also, if you don't have a good manualfor the vehicle, order one off of Bentley publishers. They make great manuals for all these crazy German cars. You can also reference the sticky at the top of the A8 D3 thread, it's titled "PLEASE READ THIS". Lots of good info on how to navigate Audi world and what basic things to get before you do any diy work on your car. It really does help.
