Default spontaneous Ignition issue

Good morning all,
having an issue with 2002 audi TT quattro (AMU). After driving spiritedly for a hour is 86degree heat, stopped at a stop sign, depressed the clutch and heard a grinding noise as if the starter was trying to start the vehicle. Made it home ok. About 15 minutes later went out to move the car, placed the key in the ignition and turned it to accessory, depressed the clutch and the TT spontaneously started without fully turning the key. This issue happened once before but went away. Also getting a acceleration hesitation ripping through the gears entering the highway. Thinking ignition coil pack issue???? recently replaced all vacuum hoses so I don't think the hesitation is a vacuum leak.

1. Never leave the vehicle in gear when parked until you resolve.

2 Troubleshoot / isolate the problem to the Starter solenoid or ignition switch or wiring by using standard automotive electric troubleshooting techniques.

It's definitely the ignition switch. Pulled the column apart over the weekend and part of the wire harness showed signs of excessive heat to the point of melting and arcing.
