Default Tranni problem

so i i think i blew my tranni but not sure what it could be. so what happened was is i was a t light in neutral and then pushed the clutch in i moved the shifter to 1st gear then let it out and i let the clutch out like normal which would be slow enough to not burn the clutch up but yet slow enough for it to properly grab. then i hear a couple of bangs and then its now stuck in first and i can freely move the shifter to any gear slot including reverse. when the car moves it makes a grinding noise.

1st question is what could have happened?

2nd question is it possible to look inside the tranni without removing it from the car?

Probably clutch coming apart. And no, you can't figure it out without removing the tranny. How many miles?

But I can still engage and disengage the clutch with no problem.

That's a lot of miles if it is the same clutch. Take to a reputable shop with experience on VW / Audi...
