TT 225 2004 spluttering
Hi all, so today I was out in my TT and the engine did the dirty. spluttering really badly and huge loss of power. the engine light came on so I plugged her in and it's reading p0300 and P0301 which apparently are Cylinder 1 misfire and Intermittent?? has anyone had these issues, initially I assumed it was the coil pack but surly that has its own code, but it seems too rough for just one cylinder. What are your thought guys?? where shall I start before I replace the lot. many thanks, Have a good easter

I have just changed my coil pack as mine was spluttering around 3000rpm, car started perfect also drove perfect until you tried to boot it then it started spluttering and jerking with loss of power. The car didn't show any codes or lights even when wired to the laptop with live data never revelled anything out of the ordinary, i took a chance that it was the coil pack and it was car now goes like crap of a stick.

One point--- Higher boost makes it more difficult for spark plugs to fire. Hence the misfire under load. On tuned cars with higher boost it is customary to gap the plugs tighter. .028 is what most use. Wider gaps can cause coil pack failure due to added stress. I had two coil packs fail on the same cyl in one day at a track event once. Installed new plugs with a .028 gap and had no more trouble.
