Anything else(any other color that is) WON'T be Alcantara unless you source it from Audi in Europe. I looked at other forms of ultrasuede. I looked at light, regular and HP.

Light is meant for handbags and similar items. Regular is usually used in clothing and HP is used in furniture. Of the many swatches I got no color offfered came as close to the silver I got and the only one that MIGHT have held up in a car seat would be the HP but even then I don't think it would. For those of you looking for red or green inserts, I would highly sugggest getting the silver and dyeing a color instead of going with a cheaper non-alcantara(milano) ultrasuede.

Details:
I did one seat at a time in order to have ZERO down time on my car. I did the passenger seat first. When I dropped off my drivers seat, I replaced it with the passenger seat. I lost control of the up down handle, but other than that, they swap fine. I didn't reconnect the airbags until both seats were back in the correct location. This WILL trip a code in the ECU, but can easily be cleared by the dealership or anyone with a VAG Tool cable/emulator software.

Pros:
Grips your butt in the corners!
Custom look
brights up ebony interior cockpit(silver seats actually reflect off interior aluminum brighting even more!)
Cooler in the summer/warmer in the winter
Seat heaters turn on faster
Cleans with just water

Cons:
Cost...plus the stock leather is very high quality
If you want zero down time, the hassel of swapping seats(no big deal in my mind) otherwise about 1-2 days downtime on your car.
Possiblity of a stain might show up more on silver vs black.
Repairing it might cost more(not sure)
Hard to turn in a leased car without buying it after this mod(even though it is truly awesome and the cars should have come this way!)

For those of you who can't use Redan in CT, try and find a local upholstery shop that repairs high end autos or does custom interiors. I found out about Redan because my Dad had his 1984 Porsche 911 cabrio seats restored to new. 16+ years with the wind and sun beating down on them, not to mention a previous owner that didn't take care of the seats, caused them to crack and dry out. The restored seats came out beautiful with matching leather color to the rest of the car and every stitch was in the exact place as it was before.

I can't say enough about this "mod" even though it doesn't offer any performance gains. Audi really should have let the cars in the US have this option.

I have had them for almost 2 years now. No wear and tear or cleaning issues to date!

Does UUC still sell the Alcantara material?

Not sure, call them and ask. The reason they were selling it before was for S4 shift boots.

The seats haven't torn anything yet either. They are easy to keep clean too.

I don't even think about sliding around in the Volvo, which doesn't have as good bolstering as my TT.

Alcantera is a great option. Jenner did it right... too bad we didn't have the option in 2001. I guess Wet Okole covers are the next best thing (better if you want to keep the seats pristine).
