What happens if you overfill your oil tank?

If you don't want to open the pan drain plug, do this...
Get a smal dia. *clear* plastic hose, any small dia., 1/4", 3/8" or so, not garden hose.
Get it as long as you can, 4-6 feet.
Thread it into the oil *fill* area, carefully, you don't want it to get caught on something.
Just put it down into the oil.
Or, if the tube is small enough, thread it in the dipstick tube.
Now this may sound wierd, but it works.
*Slowly* suck on the end of the tube, until you see oil flowing up the tube. You have plenty of length of tube, so you won't get a mouth full of oil. I'll bet you can get enuf out this way, to drop the level. You may need to do this more than once.
It works, I did it on a car that I over-filled the auto tranny on.

I agree. Half a quart should only raise the level about 4-5 mm (1/2 cm).
If they really put in 3 extra quarts, you should have oil that looks like a chocolate milkshake after a few minutes of running, due to entrapped air.
