Check Engine Light Codes
Hi all;
Recently my check engine light came on and I found someone in my area with the software who was nice enough to read the codes for me. Here is what came up.
2 Faults Found:
16826 - EVAP Emission Control Sys: Small Leak
P0442 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
17536 - Fuel Trim; Bank 1 (Mult): System too Lean
P1128 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
Readiness: 0010 0000.
I have an APR chip and my car has not lost any power and is still fast, so I just assumed the CEL may not be too serious.
In terms of the EVAP Emission error I did fill up my tank on 2 occasions with my engine running so my friend suggested that may be the reason for that error, BTW I just passed a NYC inspection 1 week ago.
My question to all is, does that seem like a reasonable cause of the problem?
The code was reset so I will see if it recurs. I will now always refill with my engine off.
In terms of the System too Lean, should I be concerned about that? If so what should I do to resolve it.
We did a complete scan of the system and those were the only codes that came up.
Also another question; I don't have a laptop and really don't plan on having one. I noticed that Gendan http://www.gendan.co.uk/product_GDEOBD.html from the UK has a handheld Fault Code Reader for 40 Quid. I was wondering if anyone has it and what do you think about it. I know it is not a comprehensive software but for my purpose (just reading and clearing codes) it seems like a great product.
Sorry for my long questions.
Any input and suggestion is greatly appreciated.
Kindest Regards.
F.
