Default 2009 3.2 TT Roadster, Convertible Parts

Hi,

I have had problems with my convertible top (as many others have on the forum). Most recently it got stuck and I tried to close it manually and i noticed that either the Audi tool/crank (??) or the spline in the soft top have lost their threads. It took me almost 40 minutes to get enough grip with the tool to pull the spline out of the soft top to then engage the lock for the soft top and completely close it.

Despite everyone mentioning the multiple bulletins etc about issues with the top the dealer wants to charge me around $350 to diagnose plust $150+ to treat the issue They have already replaced and adjusted the flap motors multiple times while it was still under warranty.

I called Audi of America who didn't really provide anything more other than I should pay the diagnostic fee despite prior failures.

Regardless, I was wondering if anyone knew the audi part numbers for the crank tool and the spline so I can order replacements.

Thanks

I was able to find them:

The "spline" is in the kit that is part 8J7898410C

The "crankshaft" is part 8J7825381A

I'll find out for sure once i get them.

Check this post I wrote for the UK Forum. May come in handy.

I would recommend you check the Crank Arm Tool and see if it's broken or not. One end has a spline, the other has a stud-and-cup. If the little stud it missing, it may be broken off on the spline shaft located in the motor assembly.

I also updated the problem of why the crank arm tools are being broken. This will help. I'm currently updating the PDF file so check back as it has lots of good pictures and illustrations to help roadster owners avoid getting stuck somewhere with a failed top.
