Default I like it but...

I wouldn't let kids, pets and/or food within a 10 yard distance.

Default I've got silver napa in the S4... and had silver alcantara on my door panels.. it's not bad..

You'd actually be surprised, it cleans up quite easily... I'd say almost as easy as leather in a way and in another way.... actually easier. Basically, it's the best of both worlds (leather and cloth).. it wipes clean, but you could also use say a carpet cleaning machine on it... or any sort of scrubbing type cleaning that you need to build up to a foam.... And to top it off, it wears better than napa leather and unlike real suede, you can get it wet and it cleans up...

People complain about silver napa and some people complain about alcantara.... I take it either those people never took care of or saw silver napa that was taken care of..... and/or have their minds made up about "fake" suede?!?!?! My next car will likely have silver napa with silver alcantara inserts..

Default Had the same in my S4 ...

I prefer leather, but would probably order alcantara in a TT to avoid the saggy seat issue. Apparently, not an issue on alacantara equipped cars. As for the cleanup, I had no issue keeping the seats looking new. I had silver nappa in my '01, '05 and '08 S4's and no problems - like the look. In fact, ordered Oyster leather in my wife's 328xi due in this week - which is very similar to silver nappa.

Gets dirty, and takes off blue dye from jeans, skip.

Default ...I think we're the only two that have kept silver nappa looking new though Phil...

After seeing how true Alcantara holds up and just how much better than real suede is actually is, but retains the look and feel of suede... just the two-tone effect (same color silver on silver)... helps change up the interior enough to make it really pop... I hated the look of the black leather with blue alcantara in the 04's with nogaro blue.... and I really hated the black leather with silver alcantara on the B7's... black on black and silver on silver are both subtle, but make things pop...

..but the important thing is they look good, both hold up well, and are easy to clean...

Default ...one great thing about alcantara... treat it with scotchguard when you first get it....

I've had issues with new cheap-*** belts leaching their dye into my silver napa if the seat heaters are on.... but they can be cleaned if you take your time and know what you're doing.... or better yet, just wear better belts (I learned my lesson)..

...as for the alcantara though, even without scotchguarding them, suggesting they pull the dye out of jeans is going a bit far... I've never heard that one and just can't see how it would any more so than the leather... and once you wash a pair of jeans, the dye should be completely set in.. and that's if there's someone actually still buying straight up blue jeans at this point.

...In regards to getting dirty... I look at it this way... I'm rather clean when I get into my cars and I can't see anyone getting into $50K+ cars that are really "dirty" from a hard days work... but, black gets dirty too..you just can't see it. Some people like not seeing it, but I'd rather clean my seats a couple times a year and physically see when they're "dirty"

Be careful with Scotchgard, as it contains perfluorinated compounds (PFCs).
