The door latch mechanism is inside the body of the door frame, and somehow requires the interior panel to be removed, and then to take out the door latch electronic mechanism that is part of the door locking activation by the key fob.

Below is link to I believe the part you would need.

Click HERE to order or for more information

You definitely will have to remove the door card. You may need to remove the door channel too.

Default Unsure of replacement technique for door lock

I have bought a replacement door latch mechanism for my 08 TT convert. I'm not sure of the installation technique to install the new latch connected with the cable to the mounting bracket. Should I bolt the latch to the door before I attempt to install the mounting bracket to the door? It's rather a cumbersome handful with the springy cable attached. Any advise will be welcomed. I have a manual but the re-installation advice is sketchy to say the least.

The door latch with all its cables installed and mounting bracket can be installed together at one time. My son assisted me and I helped him align the bracket with the holes in the door, Once we had it aligned and the screw at the front installed he slipped the latch into place and we hand started the mounting screws. I would say you need someone to help get things aligned. Once the pieces are installed it's a matter of hooking up the electrics and the inner door pieces. It's a fiddley job but doable.
