Default MKII Octane

What octane is everyone running? I only know one station in my area with 93, not always possible to fuel there. I'm guessing flipping between 91 and 93 has no negative effects? Engine: 2.5L Turbo MKII 2013

Audi recommends a minimum of 91 octane for their North American forced induction engines for maximum performance. Flipping between or mixing 91 and 93 is OK. Why use 93 when all you need is 91? Unless your car needs it, you should not need 93 on a stock engine.

I can buy 93 or 91 where I live. Conoco has 93 with ethanol and Exxon has 91 with no ethanol. The Exxon with 91 is typically $.08 - $.10 a gallon more expensive. I can't tell a difference. Also both are considered top tier fuels.

Here in the northeast I have 91 & 93 available, but I only use 93. I do change brands occasionally, mostly Shell, then Mobil and sometimes Sunoco.

Nearest CONOCO to me is at my cabin in AZ and it is definitely 91 and definitely ethanol added. I've never seen 93 at any AZ, southern NV or SoCal station. Just finished TT West driving through Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, and South Dakota and never saw anything higher than 91 at any of the various top tier stations I visited.

I've been burning mostly 91. In this market, 93 (one provider) is nearly double the price of 91. I've been averaging 26MPG using 91, no obvious difference with 93. Based on this and everyone's responses, I believe I'll burn 91 here out. Thanks for the feedback!
