Potential new owner - questions
Hello everyone. I've been looking into buying a TTS for quite some time. I'm finally ready to throw down and buy one after searching. However they are quite slim pickings in my area. I'm going to have to fly a few states over to pick one up.
So that said I'm wondering what should a guy look for with these cars? I've searched around and the only real thing I could find, that was repeatable, was an issue with the wiring going to the tail lights. Looks like a terminal on the housing sees quite a bit of heat from a short inside the tail light assembly and causes the terminal and housing to smolder.
The car I'm looking at has 50k on it, but has a clean report with all routine maintenance being performed at the local Audi dealer. The last one being the 45k service. This puts some of my concern to rest, but nevertheless I don't know how the owner treated the car. However I'll reserve my final judgement when I see it in person.
I just want to make sure I know what I'm looking for when travelling that far because I would hate to put that much effort into it and come out looking like a fool.
Thanks everyone!

nothing remarkeable
Unlike the Mk 1 that has several key issues to inspect in a used car, the Mk 2 has no significant issues except the brakes in the TTRS. Never heard of anyone with the taillight issue you described.

I have a 2013 TTS and no issues. Got about 23K on it now. You will have fun with it even as a daily driver. Civilized in normal mode and fun in sport. And no worries about taking your stuff. Plenty of room in there.
The TTs are also good winter cars. Four good snows (I am a Nokian fan) and a little respect and the quattro does the rest.
