IIRC the interface and options vary depending on what "tech" package you have. The base package, at least in 2014, required a dealer, VAGCOM, Carista, or other resource to reset the service due reminder.

I think Honda were the first ones to put "reminders" in the dashboard, and I think they were mechanically driven by the odometer cluster. You need to insert a special tool (like your key(G) to reset them. I thought that was bad enough...needing electronics...UGH.

I know there's at least one app out there that lists instructions for doing the rest through the display, but I'm also real damned sure that last year the consensus was "no way in hell" and that we had to buy software, or beg a dealer, to do that.

I see. Was your "service due" light coming up at the same time as oil change due? or they are totally separate. I'm wondering if I always keep the oil change interval current, the light will still be coming on?

Can most VAG scanner clear the service light? I saw a guy selling a VAG cable here for $300. That's crazy for a cable.

They are separate. I think I recall someone saying the inspection interval can be set for a max of 2 x 365 days.

So, they've still got you if you don't have the VCDS cable or can't connect with someone to reset it for you.

Vision, maybe you can reach out to your local VCDS person and they could help you out.

OBDeleven is a relatively inexpensive alternative that can reset the service interval. I believe Carista may also be able to do it.
