Solution to the exposed phone cradle contacts on the Bluetooth option

A few weeks ago, I posted a part number for a small rubber mat to cover up the exposed cell phone cradle contacts. It was not a complete solution because the surface underneath with the exposed contacts was not flat. Today, I found the rest of the answer.
The total solution is to order 1) the rubber insert (Audi part #8J8-863-416-4PK) for $11 and 2) the flat plastic cover to replace the part with the exposed contacts (Audi part #8J0-863-274-B-6PS) also for $11.
You have to pull hard to pop the piece with the exposed contacts out. There are 4 clips holding it in. I thought it was going to break but it did not. Once you pop it out, you have to disconnect two wiring clips. This took a few minutes.
The new piece snaps right it and the rubber mat covers it up.
Here is a picture.

Re: Can you take a picture without the mat?
I assume the plastic part you mention is the same part that cars without the bluetooth option would come with from the factory?

Here is a picture of the bottom of the part I took out. You can see the 4 clips at the corners. The new plastic cover piece has the same 4 clips but is flat on top except for two small holes that match the molded rubber mat. I think it is the standard part from the car without the Bluetooth option.

Re: Thanks for the info
Looks like I'll be calling the dealer tomorrow to see if it's too late to add the Bluetooth option to my order. I really didn't want the exposed cradle, but the parts to retrofit (BT module, antenna, mic, wiring harness, etc) would have been over 2x the cost of the factory option. Getting the option and then spending an extra $22 to lose the cradle sounds like the best solution. Thanks again.

Thanks for the info. Very useful. However...
... is it me or that mat looks nothing like the rest of the plastic around it? Different material and completely different color. At least in that photo, it looks cheap, IMO. Better than the contacts, definitely, but it doesn't look like it belongs there, especially if it's Audi-supplied.

It should be the same rubber material that is lining the bottom of the cup holders as seen on the left side of that pic above the e-brake.

Oh, it doesn't look that similar in that photo other than the lines. However...
... shouldn't it be something that matches the console plastic instead? In my mind, whatever covers that should try to match the console and simply appear as a continuation of it. My 2c.

Re: That's why I was hoping for a pic without the mat
so that I could see what the new flat plastic piece that's underneath it looked like. Can anyone w/out the BT option take a pic of their center console to show what normally is there for comparison?
