Your mentioning that -- as well as the Audi news today that could mean they're in for another huge world of hurt...as if they need another disaster after Dieselgate -- has just soured me a bit on the TT series, I must admit. Even though in many ways it represents the best balance of what I'm looking for.

and then you can read my rant about the Audi USA fashion police below. Still, the TT remains one of my top 2 choices for my next car. As you said it is a good balance of a variety of factors. The result of my frustrations with Audi USA is that they have had several opportunities, and failed, to offer the public, and me, a car that I lusted for to the point where I would have made a purchase immediately instead of waiting for my Mk 2 to get a few years older. That is, other than the virtual dash, I see no compelling reason to trade my Mk 2 roadster for a Mk 3 that is about $10K more in MSRP than my 2011 roadster was.
