I get that part, but my question is how/where the CarPlay interface would display in the TT? Most of the implementations I've seen in other cars make use of a conventional rectangular center dash screen which the A4 and Q7 have, but the TT does not. Do we think that the CarPlay interface will display in the virtual cockpit and, if so, will it occupy a rectangular section between the minimized gauge view or ???

I poked around the Audi USA website and found the attached pic showing CarPlay on the secondary monitor in the dash, so that answers my question, at least as far as the A4 goes. So, absent that display, do we think CarPlay will display on the TT's virtual cockpit or ???

Unless Audi ruins the TT's dashboard by appending an ugly screen above the center console, which would be hideous -- one may as well buy a Hyundai Veloster at that point, if one enjoys nausea while driving -- given the size and dimensions of the Virtual Cockpit, it should be straightforward to display the icons between the reduced-size speedo and tach, and enable selection via MMI or voice, as the driver chooses. In fact, given the changes announced that are coming to Android Auto soon, contextual voice will become much more important as a control going forward.

I'm hoping some salient information emerges about how Audi pulls this off within the next couple of months. I also want to see to what extent it represents a true alternative to the smorgasbord of expensive Audi Connect options coming with the new model year, which seem extremely unattractive and customer-unfriendly, unless it's Audi's intention to emulate Comcast in the latter's execrable business practices.

Thank you for confirming!

Do you happen to know whether this means Google Maps/Navigation/Traffic and Waze (when it's AA-capable later this year) will also be activated in the Virtual Cockpit?

Hoping MY2016 TTs can be updated with the support.

Thanks for the info. Any chance you know if the 2016 cars will be upgradable? My gut instinct is that the 2016 hardware is compatible (i.e. likely unchanged in 2017), so the change is really in software...if Audi choses to make it available.
