Just to bump this back up.....I was on the phone with the audi-connect hot line today.....there apparently is a method to soft restart MMI without stopping the engine, though I'm not sure if this will restart the audi-connect to AT&T. I found it in the instruction manual also.....tried it and it does reboot MMI.....need to wait for my audi-connect to drop again and see if this restarts it:

hold down the big pad round button in center console while simultaneously pushing the two Nav/Map and Radio buttons forward....those two buttons right above the mouse type round one, whatever that's called. This does a soft restart.

Just confirming....the soft restart I described above does reset the data connection while driving, assuming it's crashed.
