Right. Sounds a lot cheaper. (If you can skip the black mirrors. I think the window surround are black on both regular and Black Optic versions, right? The BOP isn't that much different on this model)... Wheels are easily $2000+, but the grille is only $675.

The grill is the main thing - it never even occurred to me that I could sell the old grill, but that's a brilliant way to save money on the swap!

I think I would probably go with different, non-Audi wheels if I decide the 18's are too small. I'm debating about the mirror caps, but since I'm planning to have the car wrapped, I will probably leave the mirrors as is.

Anyone know what the correct part number is on the black optics grill for the mark III's?

...hard to tell. Here's the TTS grille, but no mention of whether it comes regular or black... give them a call.

Plastic dip is a good idea, it looked good on my Mini for over 2 years. This is a pic before I let it go.

I'm not familiar with plastidip but if it requires a bunch of setup and special disposal, I'd rather just buy the part and swap it out. Less mess and fuss. I'm a lazy *** sack.

Plasti dip application is easy and if you change your mind also removes fairly easily.

Same stuff I've used for 30+ years to dip tool handles, etc. (in this application spray-on) https://www.dipyourcar.com/products/...FQKHswodhAIJvw

Thanks huey. I'm assuming the grill works the same way and it could be done without removing from the car?

Nas Toronto might be able to speak better to dip-on-car as I'm the type that would remove same to do it.

Whichever, keep in mind as all painting type tasks that preparation is key. I use isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol as a final prep clean.

I hired someone to do it but it's extremely easy from what I've heard from my peers. It comes off easy if you have any issues. They did not remove the grill when applying the dip. They did prep it by placing newspaper around the areas that were being applied. This way the dip did get everywhere.
