Bluetooth ending calls

I've done the MMI reset and phone reset and it still randomly drops the connection. I can't find any pattern to it.
The Audi dealer near me said I could bring my car in but I don't know what they will do. I asked if there were any MMI upgrades. I would even pay for smartphone interface if it meant a better connection in the long term.
The Audi dealer said that I should power on/off my phone every two days to ensure a better connection with the car.

Other than checking if you are running the latest firmware and updating it if necessary, there isn't anything the dealer can do that hasn't already been suggested here.
Don't know what the state of the Android Bluetooth stack is these days, but at least in the past it's been notoriously problematic. Your issue could also be caused by a third-party app. The ability to customize every aspect of the OS that many Android users so love is also the main source of instability and malfunctions. Sometimes it can be the data, too. For example, the MMI 3G+ had an issue where if you used special characters in your contacts it would mess up the Bluetooth connection.
The next step would be to factory reset your phone and then leave it in vanilla state for a while and see if the Bluetooth issue goes away. If it does, then you know it's something that you had installed or something in the data, then start putting your stuff back on the phone one by one until you find the culprit. If the issue persists, then it's something inherit to the phone as it ships or an incompatibility with the MMI and then the only option is waiting until Samsung or Audi release a fix or switch to a phone that works.

Anyone have any feedback on the CarPlay features? I got that for my '17 but I don't know if that was available before the '17 model. I'd be curious which was better - using BT audio or Carplay using the wired connection.
