Default dimensions need to be confirmed - wheels

Hi, can someone with a base TT mk3, with 19" (245/zr3519) confirm the size of the wheel itself (it would be written inside, stamped). is this a 8.5? or 9j?
I am getting conflicting information,
Thank you very much!

PS: could a tire 245/35/19 fit equally well on a 8.5 as on a 9j wheel? would it it be considered stretched and possibly dangerous? (insurance claim, safety, warranty etc).

The factory 19" wheels are 9" wide.

The factory 18" wheels are 8.5" wide.

Both are running on 245 width tires.

great, so if i was to get some VMR which are only 8.5j, re-using my current tires (the ones that came with the TT, for the 19") how would that work? would that be safe? look weird? would they even fit at all? or do i have to shop for 9j to match exactly and be safe?

You want to get rid of your forged, lightweight 19" wheels that came on your TT for lower quality aftermarket ones?

If you are worried about safety, you should stick with the setup that came from Audi, as it has been tested for a very long time.

Yes. that is correct in this particular case, but the question remains whether i was getting lower quality ones or $1500 per wheel. (better than OEM by a lot). the question stands.

I understand that using everything OEM is the defacto answer, I was wondering about difference in size for fitment, to use the OEM tires on 8.5j instead of on 9j

Ok, after much research, 8.5 wheels are perfectly fine and within the recommended width for the 245/35 tires.
