Default Drive Select

Quick question.....when I set drive select to individual and I then have options on the quattro.....when I set the quattro to dynamic, is it moving power to the rear? If so, by how much?

Can't find anything in the manual to describe this.

thanks ahead....

There is no pre-set torque split with the quattro system in the TT. It takes 150 readings every 10ms in order to determine the ideal torque split.

However, in dynamic mode, it will send more power to the rear in order to induce some oversteer and give you that more dynamic feeling.

The marketing material around the Haldex quattro system is very misleading. The Haldex system doesn't have a center differential, so it can't actually mechanically send more than 50% of the torque to the rear axle. It's just mechanically not possible. The Haldex clutch is on the rear axle and when it fully engages 50% goes to the front and 50% to the rear. In order to send more to the rear it would need a way to disengage the front axle, which it can't. So how can Audi claim up to a 100% can go the rear? Well, if the front axle has zero traction, then the rear axle does 100% of the work. Their marketing lingo doesn't differentiate between torque (force) and work (power). Drive Select in Dynamic engages the Haldex clutch more, so you are driving with a 50/50 split more often. It also steps up torque vectoring around corners to help rotate the car more and give you the impression that the rear is doing more work, whereas in the other modes the rear axle is only engaged more than 10% if the front loses traction and the torque vectoring is less aggressive.

My most used modes, in the 'burbs:

Auto 70%
Auto with Sport mode 20%
Dynamic 8% (quiet country roads, such as early Sunday mornings)
Comfort 2% (wife aboard)

Initially I used Individual a lot but the above is more the norm these days.
